research talk | Gastvortrag Prof. Dr. Enny Das: „Communication as Placebo“

Am Montag, den 25.06.2018 um 17:30 Uhr (Raum D-2102) hält Prof. Dr. Enny Das im Rahmen der internationalen Summer School des Zentrums für Interdisziplinäre Gesundheitsforschung (ZIG) einen Gastvortrag mit dem Titel "Communication as Placebo: Towards a Theory of Adverse Information Effects in the Medical Domain".

Alle Interessierten sind herzlich eingeladen!

Der Vortrag wird in englischer Sprache gehalten.

Can language decrease medical problems? When biological origins fail to account for illness symptoms, research has mostly looked at patients’ psychology. The present research, in contrast, proposes that subtle linguistic differences expressed by medical professionals can trigger adverse information effects. Relevant findings are presented among patients with medically unexplained symptoms (MUS), Multiple Sclerosis, and cancer.
